Apple plans to show search ads in Maps as soon as next year

Around August 15 it was said by overseas media that Apple has started to test adding sponsored content to the Maps app, similar to the App Store's advertising program.

Meanwhile, not only the Maps app, but also Apple's book and blog businesses, may also add advertising content in the future, which may boost the official revenue to some extent.

The goal of Apple's advertising platform vice president is to triple the annual revenue, which is currently equivalent to about 27.2 billion yuan in annual revenue for Apple's advertising division.

And recently, Mark Gurman, a columnist who studies Apple, said that Apple plans to officially display search ads in its Maps app on iPhones starting next year, which is probably earlier than most people expected.

For developers, that means they can pay Apple to promote their apps to Apple users in this way, which may not be good news for Apple phone users.

Apple released its own fiscal third quarter numbers at the end of July. The information showed that Apple's revenue rose a modest 2% year-over-year to about $83 billion, but net profit declined somewhat, by about 10.6%, to a total of about $19.4 billion.
